(ForUm) - Paying a working visit to Rivne region Victor Yushchenko held a meeting with business leaders of the region, president's press office reported.
They spoke about how to optimize relations between government and business.
The President said the development of small and medium business would boost the local economy and help resolve many regional problems, reports Trend.
I want businessmen to regard officials as their partners, he said, adding that they should build transparent relations with the authorities.
Yushchenko said fiscal reform was an effective means to build such relations and legalize the economy.
They discussed a wide range of issues, among them the development of the local chemical industry, land procedures, VAT rebates and agricultural policies. The President promised to work out a special plan to stop thefts of property in Rivne's forests.
Then Yushchenko decorated Rivne Mayor Viktor Chaika with the Order of Merit.
