Foreign ministry deputy spokesman Boris Malakhov said the talks focused on current and future issues of Russian-US relations, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as several burning international problems.
During the meeting the necessity was stressed to further develop bilateral cooperation in the fight against new threats and challenges, in strengthening security and stability in the world. Besides, the possibilities of the contributions of the US Congress and the Russian Federal Assembly to the program of events devoted to the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between our countries were discussed, he said.
Late on Thursday US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held a dinner in honor of the Russian foreign minister. National security advisor Stephen Hadley was also invited.
