(www.itar-tass.com) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Ramzan Kadyrov as Acting President of the Chechen Republic.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday appointed Alu Alkhanov as Deputy Justice Minister of the Russian Federation, reports Trend.

President Putin announced it as he was meeting with the former Chechen president. He made the appointment having considered Alkhanov's request to transfer him to another post.

Alu Alkhanov has worked as Chechen President since August 2004 and a lot has changed for the better in the restive republic since then, the Russian president said as he met with the ex-president. Those were not the easiest years in the life of the Chechen republic and the country, the president noted.

All that you have done in Chechnya is undoubtedly a result of collective efforts, the work of republican bodies of power, work in the regions, but to a great extent this is the result of your efforts, the president said.
