( AP ) - A powerful earthquake flattened hundreds of buildings in western Indonesia on Tuesday, killing at least 69 people and leaving hospitals grappling with scores of injured, officials said.
The number of dead in west Sumatra province "would likely rise" because reports from remote areas had yet to be received, local government spokesman Hasrul Piliang told.
At least 65 others were seriously injured, he said.
