BYuT leader welcomes Ukraine’s president’s decision
( ForUm ) - BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko welcomes the decision of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, "UNIAN" informs.
According to her comments, disseminated by the BYuT press-service, she said: "I'm happy that the President fulfilled his constitutional duty".
"Having declared about dissolving the corrupted Verkhovna Rada, the President of Ukraine fulfilled his constitutional duty and defended citizens' rights", the BYuT leader is convinced. "Now it is up to us to carry out a fair early election", she added.
Yulia Tymoshenko is confident of the victory of opposition forces, because, according to her, the current Verkhovna Rada does not reflect the real will of citizens, and is a profanation of the elections of the year 2006.
"Only electors may decide who will have authority in Ukraine. To buy it, be means of bribing lawmakers, is an unconstitutional way, and the President, being the guarantor of constitutional rights, had to defend the democratic order in the society", Yulia Tymoshenko claims.
Yushchenko has pushed hard for full integration with the West since gaining power in 2005, including membership in the NATO military alliance.
But many Ukrainians believe he has failed to live up to his promises of a better future and has needlessly antagonized Ukraine's giant neighbour Russia.
Analysts had said earlier Yushchenko was unlikely to want fresh elections now because of his low popularity and divisions with his former "orange revolution" allies.
