( dpa ) - Turkish fighter jets Tuesday attacked suspected positions of Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, the Turkish general staff disclosed.

The announcement described as successful the air attacks in three different regions on positions of the banned Kurdish Workers Party (PKK).

Media reports cited Kurds in Iraq as saying there were no deaths from the raids. The villages which were attacked had already been evacuated.

Tuesday's attacks were the latest by the Turkish military against suspected Kurdish separatist havens in northern Iraq in a bid to curb cross-border raids by Kurd fighters in south-eastern Turkey.
