Sweden's top diplomat in Ankara said Tuesday that Turkey will enter the European Union (EU) sooner than many people think, reported World Bulletin.

Ambassador Chister Asp paid a visit of courtesy to the Sub-governor of Aegean town of Marmaris on Tuesday, reported AA.

Turkey would have important contributions to the EU, Asp said.

All EU member states must establish relations with Turkey now, Asp said.

As the Ambassador of Sweden, I try to get to know all corners of Turkey, Asp noted.

Pointing out that Turkey must continue with its reform process, Asp stressed that Sweden supports Turkey's EU membership.

"A large number of Swedish tourists visit Turkey. We expect Turkey to become the second country that Swedish tourists visit most by the end of this year," Asp said.
