Bulgarian President to visit Turkey

The scheduled meeting between President Gul and President Parvanov is expected to focus on regional and international developments besides the bilateral relations between the two countries, reported World bulletin.

President Parvanov will also attend Turkish-Bulgarian Business Council meeting in the central Turkish province of Kayseri on December 17.

Turkey-Bulgaria relations

As two democratic countries having good neighborly relations, Turkey and Bulgaria contribute to peace and stability in the Balkans and the Black Sea basin.

They also have partnership ties under the roofs of NATO and the EU which gave the countries a proper ground for further strengthening their friendly relations and cooperation.

As for economic and commercial relations between the two countries, trade volume exceeded 4 billion USD by the end of 2007. Turkey is Bulgaria's most important commercial partner in the Balkans and Bulgaria is Turkey's second biggest partner in the region. Turkish firms' investments in Bulgaria amounted to 600 million USD. In 2007, some 1.5 million Bulgarian tourists visited Turkey.
