EU commissioner: Wrong to politicize what happened in the past

European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said that it is wrong to politicize what happened in the past, referring to the adoption of a document by the Swedish parliament on the so-called Armenian genocide, CNN Turk reported.

"It is not right to politicize what happened in the past," Fule said.

The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted a resolution recognizing the so-called genocide with 23 to 22 votes against at a meeting on March 4. After a week, the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Swedish Parliament recognized the so-called Armenian genocide March 11.

As a sign of protest Ankara recalled its ambassadors Sweden and the United States.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said that the adoption of a resolution on the genocide will be a serious blow towards the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations.
