Support for the government formation process in Iraq must not be biased, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said after a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi in Ankara, TRT Russian reported.

"We must act as a support rather than supporters of any group in the process of forming the Iraqi government. We addressed this appeal to all the neighboring countries," Davutoglu said.

He also noted the negative impact of failed attempts to form the Iraqi government on the fight against terrorism.

"Unfortunately, the delay in forming the government has a negative impact on Turkey's struggle against terrorism. We hope the government will be formed as soon as possible and will be created a structure that will be able to control the entire territory of Iraq," Davutoglu said.

In turn, Iraq's deputy prime minister thanked Turkey for supporting his country.

"Turkey is holding meetings with all groups in Iraq, not paying attention to ethnic and religious differences, while not interfering in domestic affairs. This is a matter of respect by Iraqis," Al-Issawi said.
