Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Friday the Turkish government did not think that Turkey should be thought as a front-line country in NATO as was the case during the Cold War, Anadolu Agency reported.
Speaking at a press conference in Brussels, Minister Davutoglu said that Turkey did not see any of its neighbors as a threat.
If a defense system is to be established, this should cover all members of NATO and provide the same security to all NATO members, Davutoglu said.
One may think that a war of missiles is about to begin and Turkey would host a missile shield. There is no such case at the moment, Davutoglu said.
What is the case is that we are in the process of planning a missile defense system in the long run and in stages, Davutoglu said.
