Turkey's President Abdullah Gul welcomed his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic with full military honors at the Presidential Residence in Ankara on Wednesday, Anadolu News Agency reported.
Gul and Vujanovic later had a tete-a-tete meeting.
The two presidents will chair meetings between Turkish and Montenegrin delegations and hold a joint press conference.
This is the first time a Montenegrin president is paying a formal visit to Turkey after the country declared its independence in 2006.
Turkish President Gul had paid a visit to Montenegro in December, 2009.
Montenegro took over the rotating presidency of South-East European Cooperation Process from Turkey during the summit meeting in Istanbul on June 23, 2010.
