Turkey ferryboat hijacker identified

The Interior Ministry has identified the personality of a terrorist who hijacked a ferryboat in Turkey last night, Turkish news channel TRT Haber quoted Interior Minister Idris Naim Shahin as reporting.

The Interior Ministry has identified the personality of a terrorist who hijacked a ferryboat in Turkey last night, Turkish news channel TRT Haber quoted Interior Minister Idris Naim Shahin as reporting.
The terrorist is Mansur Guzel, who is the Kurdish PKK person responsible for youth activity in town Kojaeli.
Ferryboat "Kartepe" hijacked in Turkey on Friday night was later on freed through a special operation.

The terrorist acted alone. He was killed during the operation.

Ferryboat "Kartepe", which had been on its way from Istanbul's suburb Izmit to town Karamuresl on the Marmara Sea coastline, was hijacked on Friday at 17.45 local time. There were 21 people aboard, including 17 passengers and 4 crew members.

As reported initially, the ferryboat was hijacked by five people who threatened to explode it if they were not allowed to make a statement for press. Later on, it was reported that only person was involved in the hijacking.
