Ankara demands from the Syrian authorities to find and punish those responsible for attacks on Turkish diplomatic missions in the country, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the TRT Haber television channel reported.

"It is not enough to apologize. The government of Syria should punish the guilty," Mr.Erdogan said.

Recently, the Turkish diplomatic missions in some cities of Syria were attacked.

On Sunday, about 1,000 demonstrators attacked the Turkish embassy in Damascus, throwing stones and bottles at the building. Only the police forces' arrival prevented a possible assault on the embassy.

Syria has been experiencing continuous anti-government protests for almost eight months. According to UN statistics, the number of clash victims exceeded 3500, whilst the Syrian authorities say more than 1500 people died on both sides.
