Air strikes were conducted after a militant terror attack in southeastern Turkey on Aug. 17.

In response to the attack of Kurdish militants in Hakkari province bordering with Iraq, which killed 24 Turkish servicemen and wounded 18 on the night of Oct.19, the Turkish army launched a major ground operation in five regions of Northern Iraq. The 10,000-grouping, mainly for special purposes were involved in the operations.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which has continued for more than 25 years, put an end to lives of over 40,000 people. PKK is recognized as terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
