Twenty PKK militants were killed during the special operation conducted by the Turkish military in the province Schirn, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported.
The operation against the PKK was a response to the death of nine Turkish soldiers killed by terrorists.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state has been on-going for more than 25 years claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK group is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the UN and the European Union.
