Speaking to reporters after the Council of Ministers meeting on Monday, Babacan said that Turkey supported the efforts of UN & Arab League Special Envoy for Syria Al-Akhdar Brahimi who was currently in Damascus for a cease fire.
Syrian opposition is also supporting him, added Babacan.
He expressed hope that Damascus administration and the regime would support too.
We hope weapons will be laid down at least during Eid al-Adha holiday, said Babacan and repeated Turkey's full support to Brahimi in this issue.
Brahimi is in Damascus to try to broker a cease fire before the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha which begins on Thursday and lasts four days.
