Turkey's annualized inflation of consumer prices decreased to the lowest level in 15 months in December, data released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) have shown Today`s Zaman reported .

Inflation of the consumer price index (CPI) dropped to 6.16 percent in December from 6.37 percent in November, according to TurkStat data. The latest figure is the lowest since September 2011, when consumer prices moved up 6.15 percent.

On the monthly basis, the CPI increased by 0.38 percent in December, slower than the 0.15 percent gain economists expected.

The greatest increase in consumer prices on a 12-month-basis was experienced in the housing sector at 11.37 percent. Costs at hotels, cafes and restaurants rose by 9.31 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices rose by 8.17 percent.

TurkStat also stated that Turkey's producer price index (PPI) increased at a rate of 2.45 percent year-on-year in December, slower than the 3.6 percent in November.
