Turkey, US agree to conduct joint operation against IS

Turkey and the US will start "a comprehensive operation" against militants of the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria and Turkey in the near future, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in an interview with Reuters news agency Aug. 24, Tass reported.
"The technical talks on this issue ended yesterday," he said. "We will begin a comprehensive operation against the IS soon."
Islamic State (IS) is an Islamist terrorist organization operating in the territory of Iraq and Syria. It was established on October 15, 2006 as a result of the merger of 11 radical Sunni groups. It is mainly consists of the fighters who fought with the US forces in Iraq and with the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
