Turkey is holding back emotions, unlike Russia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his visit to Qatar, the Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported Dec.2.

He said that Turkey will act within the framework of international diplomacy.

Following the downing of a Russian warplane that violated Turkey's airspace near the Syrian border on Nov. 24, Russia announced sanctions against Turkey and President Vladimir Putin has alleged Turkish involvement in oil purchases from Daesh.

Turkish President Erdogan has challenged Putin and said he will step down if Russian claims that Turkey buys oil from Daesh are proved. He called on Putin to do the same if they are not.

Russia's accusations against Turkey have no grounds, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said earlier.

He pointed out that if Russia wants to restore the relations with Turkey, it should open diplomatic channels for negotiations.

"Russia should have known that Turkey has the right to protect its borders will all possible means," said Davutoglu.

Earlier, spokesperson for Russian president Dmitry Peskov told Turkish media that the restoration of the relations between the two countries is out of the question.
