A special operation is underway in Istanbul against drug traffickers.
Turkey's Milliyet newspaper said on its website Dec. 19 that over 5,000 police officers are taking part in the operation that covers 39 districts of Istanbul.
Reportedly, 113 people have already been detained during the operation.
Turkish police earlier held similar raids in the cities of Adana, Izmir and the province of Diyarbakir.
Previously, Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu announced that the fight against drugs in the country will be strengthened, while drug dealers will be seen as similar to terrorists.
