By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

A military convoy was hit in the south-eastern Turkey by a remotely controlled bomb attack, which killed five soldiers, the Haberturk newspaper reported Feb. 18.

Reports suggest that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization is involved in the attack.

Turkish armed forces launched large-scale military actions against the PKK after the attack.

PKK's attacks on military units and police stations in the south-eastern Turkey have become more frequent in recent months.

During 2015, more than 200 soldiers were killed in Turkey in the clashes with the PKK.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and claimed more than 40,000 lives.

PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the UN and the European Union.
