By Orkhan Guluzade – Trend:

Turkish General Prosecutor's Office has sanctioned detention of prosecutors and judges, 84 people in total, suspected of having ties with Fethullah Gulen’s movement, the Sabah newspaper reported Aug. 18.

Gulen is involved in the organization of the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey.

Police are currently carrying out operations in 34 provinces of Turkey to detain the prosecutors and judges.

Earlier, the Turkish High Council of Judges and Prosecutors temporarily dismissed 648 judges and prosecutors due to suspicion of their ties with the Gulen movement.

It was earlier reported that the supporters of Fethullah Gulen have penetrated into several government bodies in Turkey.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country. Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.

However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the death toll as a result of the military coup attempt stood at 246 people, excluding the coup plotters, and over 2,000 people were wounded.

Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey on July 20.
