Combating terrorism is a priority for Turkey, the country’s General Staff said in a message Nov. 8 quoting Hulusi Akar, head of the Staff.
Turkey will continue the fight against terrorism, in particular the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), he said.
Akar also noted that the people of Turkey stand in solidarity with the country’s army in the fight against terrorism.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
