PKK members detained in eight Turkish provinces

As part of the operation conducted against the PKK terrorist organization, 90 PKK members were detained in eight Turkish provinces in the south-east of the country, as well as in Istanbul, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey said in a message on Oct. 9.
During the search in the detainees' apartments were found firearms, as well as maps on which military and strategic objects were marked.
Other details of the operation are not reported yet.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives.
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
