Turkey stands for cessation of protest rallies in France, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, Trend reports citing the Turkish media.

He said that stability in Europe is very important for Turkey.

Cavusoglu noted that there are forces that are interested in destabilizing the situation in France.

On Dec. 8, France hosted the fourth series of protest rallies of the "yellow vests" movement. In Paris, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse and other cities, demonstrations were accompanied by clashes with the police. The number of those who took part in the protest rallies exceeded 136,000 people.

Earlier, Minister of Economy and Finance of France Bruno Le Maire said that the protests of the "yellow vests" already have catastrophic consequences for the French economy. He said that during previous demonstrations, damage to a number of companies and shopping centers reached a level of 15-50 percent of their usual proceeds at this time of year.

According to the City Hall of Paris, on Dec. 1, the city incurred losses worth 3-4 million euros. The National Federation of Road Transport) of France estimates its damage from road blockades at 400 million euros.

According to the latest information from the French Interior Ministry, during the Dec. 8 protests, the police detained almost 2,000 people. Most of them were detained under accusations of "conspiracy to commit violence" and 'incitement to commit a crime."
