Turkey has prevented a series of terrorist attacks, which were planned to be carried out during the municipal elections, Trend reports via Turkish media.
Reports noted that terrorist attacks were planned by the militants of the Kurdish terrorist organization PKK in various cities of Turkey and, in particular, in the province of Diyarbakir.
The municipal elections in Turkey will be held March 31, 2019. They are held every five years.
The conflict between Turkey and PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 35 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
