Real estate sales via mortgage lending up in Turkey

In August 2019, 34,100 residential properties were sold in Turkey within mortgage lending, which is 21,400 more compared to the same month of 2018, Trend reports referring to the country's General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre.

Most of the real estate was sold in Istanbul, according to the report.

According to the general directorate, 4,300 real estate properties were sold via mortgage lending in Istanbul in August 2019, which is 2,300 properties more than in August 2018. In Ankara, 4,200 properties were sold via mortgage lending in August this year, which is 2,800 properties more compared to the same month of 2018.

In January-August 2019, 130,000 real estate properties were sold via mortgage lending in Turkey, which is 114,800 less compared to the same period of 2018.

According to the general directorate, in August 2019, 110,500 residential properties were sold in Turkey, which is 5.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

Furthermore, in August 2019, 3,604 real estate properties were sold to foreigners, which is 6.8 percent less compared to August 2018.
