LPG and LNG transshipment volumes through Turkish ports exceed 8 million tons

Over 8.4 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) were transported through the Turkish ports in September 2019, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Oct. 31.

“The volume of LPG transshipment through the Turkish ports amounted to over 2.4 million tons during the reporting period,” the ministry said.

"During the reporting period, ships sailing under Turkey’s flag transported 177,392 tons of LPG, ships sailing under the flags of their countries - 129,916 tons while ships sailing under the flags of other countries – over 2.1 million tons," the ministry said.

“Over 5.9 million tons of LNG were transported through the Turkish ports in September 2019,” the ministry said.

"During the reporting period, LNG was not transported by vessels sailing under the Turkish flag, over 1.5 million tons of LNG were transported by vessels sailing under the flags of their countries while over 4.4 million tons were transported by vessels sailing under the flag of other countries," the ministry said.

The biggest share in transit through the Turkish ports accounted for crude oil, fuel oil, iron ore, lead-free gasoline and gas oil in September 2019.

Most of the transit cargo was transported from Italy, China, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Romania, Egypt, Greece and France through the Turkish ports in September.

The total volume of transit cargo through the Turkish ports amounted to over 55.9 million tons in September 2019.
