Cargo transportation by Turkmen trucks soars in Turkey in September 2019 (Exclusive)

In September 2019, 263 Turkmen trucks transported cargo to Turkey, which is 250 trucks more compared to September 2018, a source in Turkey’s International Freight Forwarders Association (UND) told Trend.

According to the UND, in September 2019, 148 Turkmen trucks transported cargo through the Aktaş checkpoint, which is located on the border with Georgia, in the Turkish province of Ardahan, 31 Turkmen trucks through the Gürbulak checkpoint on the border with Iran in the Turkish province of Agri and 220 Turkmen trucks through the Sarp checkpoint on the border with Georgia in the Turkish province of Artvin.

In September 2018, eight Turkmen trucks transported cargo through Aktaş checkpoint, 14 - through Gürbulak checkpoint, 108 - through Sarp checkpoint.

Some 934,404 Turkish trucks transported cargo abroad from January through September 2019, which is 5 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

“The share of cargo transported from Turkey by Turkish trucks accounted for 77.6 percent of the total volume of cargo transshipment by vehicles from January through September 2019,” UND said.

Some 269,653 foreign trucks transported cargo across Turkey from January through September 2019, which is 3 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

“The share of cargo transportation from Turkey by foreign trucks amounted to 22.4 percent from January through September 2019,” the UND said.

Some 300,673 Turkish trucks transported cargo from foreign countries from January through September 2019.
