Turkish steel exports down by over 5 percent

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 18

From January through October of 2019, exports of Turkish steel decreased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018, amounting to $11.7 billion, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Trade Nov. 18.

Exports of steel for the reporting period accounted for 7.9 percent of Turkey’s total exports, according to the report.

“In October 2019, Turkish steel exports fell by 21.2 percent compared to October 2018, amounting to $1.1 billion, which accounts for 7.2 percent of Turkey’s total exports,” the ministry said.

Over the past 12 months (from October 2018 through October 2019), exports of this product increased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period in 2017-2018 and amounted to $14.8 billion, the ministry said.

From January through October 2019, Turkish exports grew by 1.6 percent, compared with figures for the same period in 2018, amounting to $137 billion.

In October 2019, Turkish exports decreased by 0.3 percent compared to October 2018, amounting to $15.2 billion.
