Volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish port of Mersin revealed

More than 3.01 million tons of cargo were transshipped via Turkish port of Mersin in January 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Ministry.

The ministry noted that volumes of cargo transshipped by the vessels flying the Turkish flag made up 169,618 tons, and by the ships flying flags of other countries – over 2.8 million tons of cargo.

“In January 2020, 71,423 tons of cargo were transported through the port of Mersin in transit,” the ministry said.

During the reported period, the volume of cargo transshipment via ports of Turkey has exceeded 32.9 million tons.

In January 2020, the cargo transshipment by vessels flying the Turkish flag exceeded 2.4 million tons, while the vessels flying flags of other countries carried over 30.5 million tons of cargo.

In total, over 6.1 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through Turkish ports in January 2020.
