Cargo transit from Georgia via Turkey plummets

Transit cargo transportation from Georgia via Turkey lowered by 22 percent in the first five months of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports on July 1 referring to Turkey’s International Freight Forwarders Association (UND).

Over the reporting period, 793 trucks transited cargo from Georgia via Turkey.

Meanwhile, transit cargo transportation from Georgia via Turkey made up nearly 3.9 percent of the total volume of transit cargo transportation.

During the reporting period, 20,389 trucks transited cargo through the territory of Turkey, which is 36 percent less than in the five months of 2019.

In total, 65,957 trucks transported cargo from abroad to Turkey from January through May 2020, which is 22 percent less compared to the same period in 2019.

As many as 9,285 trucks transported cargo from abroad to Turkey in May 2020, which is 51 percent less compared to May 2019.
