Turkey's six-month jewelry export marginally dips

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9

Export of jewelry from Turkey to international markets dropped by 2.4 percent from January through June 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, having made up $1.6 billion, Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend on July 9.

According to the ministry, this amount accounted for 2.1 percent of the country’s total export for the reporting period.

"In June 2020, Turkey exported jewelry worth $345 million to world markets, which is 60.2 percent more compared to the same month of 2019," the ministry said.

Turkey’s export of jewelry abroad in June this year amounted to 2.6 percent of the country’s total export.

During the last twelve months (from June 2019 through June 2020), Turkey exported jewelry worth $4 billion.

In May 2020, Turkey exported jewelry worth $225.4 million to world markets, which is 37.4 percent less compared to the same month of 2019, making up 2.3 percent of the country’s total export.

From May 2019 through May 2020, Turkey exported jewelry worth more than $3.9 billion.
