Half-year cargo shipment from China via Turkish ports announced

The volume of cargo transshipment from China through the ports of Turkey exceeded 2.8 million tons in the first half of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

From January through June 2020, cargo transshipment from China by ships flying the Chinese flag amounted to 20,108 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – over 2.7 million tons.

During this period, more than 2.5 million tons of cargo were shipped in transit from China via the Turkish ports, the ministry said.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

During the reporting month, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
