Turkey unveils six-month cargo shipment through its Gemlik port

The transshipment of goods through Turkey’s Gemlik port in Bursa province exceeded 5.6 million tons in the first half of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend .

Reportedly, 523,402 tons of cargo were handled through Gemlik port by ships flying the Turkish flags, while ships flying the flags of other countries moved over 5.1 million tons of cargo.

As many as 16,651 tons of goods were shipped in transit via Gemlik port from January through June of this year, added the ministry.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

During the reporting month, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
