Turkey reveals volume of Japanese cargo shipment through its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 27

The volume of cargo transshipment from Japan via the ports of Turkey made up 371,414 tons in the first seven months of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 27.

During the reporting period, the shipment of goods from Japan by ships flying the Turkish flag made up 245 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 367,875 tons.

Meanwhile, 3,294 tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Japanese flag, the ministry said.

At the same time, 9,039 tons of cargo were transited from Japan via the Turkish ports.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 209.8 million tons from January through July 2020.

Over the mentioned period, ships flying the Turkish flag shipped over 16.9 million tons of goods.

In the first seven months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 8 million tons, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 184.8 million tons, the ministry said.

During this period, more than 41.8 million tons of cargo were handled in transit through the ports of Turkey.

As reported, in July 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 30.2 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transported over 2.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.5 million tons.

Over 5.6 million tons of goods were transshipped in transit through the Turkish ports in July 2020.
