China's import of steel from Turkey surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 28

The volume of steel export from Turkey to China increased by 47.70 percent in the first seven months of 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $8.9 million, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade told Trend.

In July 2020, Turkey’s steel export to China made up $1.4 million, which is 10.19 percent less than in July last year.

Steel export from Turkey to the world markets dropped by 16.4 percent from January through July 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, and amounted to $7 billion.

Meanwhile, Turkish steel export made up 7.8 percent of the country's total export over this period.

In July 2020, Turkey exported steel worth $1 billion to the world markets, which is a 15.4 percent decrease in comparison to the same month of 2019, the ministry said.

Turkey’s steel export in July 2020 accounted for 7 percent of the country's total export.

Over the past 12 months (from July 2019 through July 2020), Turkey exported the steel worth $12.4 billion abroad.
