Demand for Turkish leather goods in int'l markets falls

The export of leather goods from Turkey to global markets decreased by 22.7 percent from January through September 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $988 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

The ministry noted that the export of leather products made 0.9 percent of the country's total exports during this period.

In September 2020, Turkey exported leather goods worth over $131.3 million to international markets, which is 11.1 percent less compared to the same month of 2019, the ministry said.

At the same time, Turkey’s exports of leather products in September 2020 accounted for 0.9 percent of the country's total exports.

Over the past 12 months (from September 2019 through September 2020), Turkey exported leather goods worth over $1.37 billion abroad.
