Turkish export to OIC countries decline in 9M2020

Turkey’s export to the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from January through September 2020 decreased by 12.9 percent compared to the same period of last year, having made up $30.7 billion, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend.

During the reporting period, the export to the OIC countries made up 25.9 percent of Turkey’s total export volume in 2020, the ministry said.

Turkey’s export to the OIC member countries in September 2020 edged down by 2 percent compared to the same month of 2019 and stood at $3.9 billion. The export to the OIC countries made up 24.7 percent of Turkey’s total export volume in September 2020, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, Turkey’s import from the OIC countries dropped by 15.5 percent from January through September 2020 and exceeded $23 billion compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to 14.8 percent of Turkey’s total import volume.

In September 2020, Turkey’s import from OIC member countries grew by 46.7 percent compared to the same month of 2019, making up $3 billion, or 14.8 percent of the total import in September 2020, added the ministry.

Turkey's foreign trade turnover amounted to over $37.7 billion in September this year.

According to the ministry, Turkey's exports during the reporting month increased by 4.8 percent compared to the same month of 2019, amounting to $16.9 billion.

At the same time, Turkey's imports rose by 23 percent over the year and exceeded $20.8 billion.

In the past nine months of 2020, the trade turnover of Turkey amounted to $274.5 billion.

Turkey's exports for the reporting period decreased by 10.9 percent compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $118.3 billion, which is 1.5 percent up compared to the same period of last year, amounting to over $156.1 billion.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkey in 2019 made up $374.2 billion.
