As many as 70,751 tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir Province from January through October 2020, which is 40 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
During the reporting period, 48,176 tons of cargo were handled by domestic flights, which has shown a decrease of 23 percent year on year.
The ministry said that 22,395 tons of cargo were transported through the mentioned airport by international flights over the past ten months of 2020, which is 59 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
According to the ministry, the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served over 4.7 million passengers in the mentioned period, a decline of 55 percent.
During the reporting period, 3.8 million passengers were served on domestic flights, which is 49 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
Furthermore, 933,106 passengers were served on international flights in the reporting period, down by 69 percent over the year.
The ministry noted that 39,332 flights were carried out at the mentioned airport, showing an annual decrease of 45 percent.
In the past ten months of this year, 30,420 flights were carried out domestically, which is 39 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
International flights at the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport plunged by 59 percent, amounting to 8,912 flights.
At the same time, air traffic in Turkey slumped by 45.9 percent and amounted to 722,084 flights.
From January through October 2020, over 70.5 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.
In the reporting period, more than 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
