Iran records decline in demand for Turkish cars

Car exports from Turkey to Iran dropped by 36.72 percent in the past 10 months of 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, making up over $66.7 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

In October 2020, Turkey exported cars worth $7.2 million to Iran, which is 43.94 percent less than in the same month of last year.

According to the ministry, Turkey’s exports of cars to global markets from January through October 2020 decreased by 20.9 percent over the year, amounting to $20.05 billion.

At the same time, Turkish car exports accounted for 14.8 percent of the country's total exports.

In October 2020, Turkey exported $2.91 billion worth of cars to world markets, which is 3.7 percent more compared to the same month of 2019.

Turkey’s car exports in October 2020 made up 16.8 percent of the country's total exports.

Over the past 12 months (from October 2019 through October 2020), Turkey exported vehicles worth $25.2 billion abroad.
