Value of OIC states' import from Turkey shows decline

Turkey’s export to the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from January through October 2020 decreased by 11.9 percent compared to the same period of last year, having made up $24.9 billion, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend.

During the reporting period, the export to the OIC countries made up 25.8 percent of Turkey’s total export volume in 2020, the ministry said.

Turkey’s export to the OIC member countries in October 2020 was by 3.2 percent less than in the same month of 2019 and stood at $4.2 billion. The export to the OIC countries made up 24.5 percent of Turkey’s total export volume in October 2020, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, Turkey’s import from the OIC countries increased up by 15.7 percent from January through October 2020 and exceeded $25.5 billion compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to 14.5 percent of Turkey’s total import volume.

In October 2020, Turkey’s import from OIC member countries grew by 17.4 percent compared to the same month of 2019, surpassing $2.4 billion, or 12.6 percent of the total import in October 2020, added the ministry.

Turkey's foreign trade turnover amounted to over $37 billion in October this year.

According to the ministry, Turkey's exports during the reporting month increased by 5.6 percent compared to the same month of 2019, amounting to more than $17.3 billion.

At the same time, Turkey's imports grew by 8.4 percent over the year and stood at $19.7 billion.

In the past ten months of 2020, the trade turnover of Turkey amounted to $311.5 billion.

Turkey's exports for the reporting period decreased by 9.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019, equaling $135.6 billion, while import rose by 1.2 percent compared to the same period of last year, exceeding $175.8 billion.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkey in 2019 made up $374.2 billion.
