Azerbaijan slows down imports of Turkish-made leather goods

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 5

The export of leather goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan decreased by 21.3 percent from January through November 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $12.7 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

In November 2020, the export of leather goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan decreased by 29.1 percent compared to November 2019 and amounted to $596,000, said the ministry.

In 11M2020, Turkey’s exports of leather products to global markets declined by 21.1 percent compared to 11M2019, amounting to $1.22 billion.

As reported, Turkey’s eleven-month export of leather products made up 0.8 percent of the country's total exports.

In November 2020, Turkey exported $104.4 million worth of leather goods to foreign markets, having declined by 15.9 percent year on year.

Turkey’s November 2020 exports of leather goods accounted for 0.6 percent of the country's overall exports.

Over the past 12 months (from November 2019 through November 2020), Turkey exported leather goods worth over $1.33 billion to the international market.
