Turkey and Uzbekistan will use the national currency in mutual settlements in joint trade from 2021, the Turkish government told Trend on Dec. 11.
The Turkish private companies will participate in trade exhibitions in Uzbekistan, which will be held in 2021.
"The main goal is to review the consumer market of Uzbekistan, which will lead to an increase in trade turnover,” the Turkish government said. “For this purpose, Turkey and Uzbekistan will draw up a list of goods that are of interest on the consumer market of these countries."
The government also stressed that private entrepreneurs of the two countries will pay mutual business visits in 2021.
The trade turnover between Turkey and Uzbekistan decreased by $310.8 million from January through October 2020 compared to the same period of last year, amounting to $1.5 billion.
Turkey's export of goods to Uzbekistan amounted to $797 million from January through October 2020 while import of goods from Uzbekistan - $721 million.
The trade turnover between the two countries decreased by $15.9 million in October 2020 compared to the same period of last year, amounting to $182.3 million.
Turkey's export of goods to Uzbekistan amounted to $103.9 million, while import of goods from Uzbekistan - $78.4 million in October 2020.
