Turkey records decline in 2M2021 cargo, passenger traffic via Adnan Menderes Airport

The cargo turnover of Turkey's Adnan Menderes International Airport in Izmir city made up 11,008 tons from January through February 2021, which is 46 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

"During this period, cargo turnover on domestic flights amounted to 9,649 tons, an annual decrease of 36 percent. Meanwhile, cargo turnover on international flights amounted to 1,359 tons, a drop of 75 percent," said the ministry.

"The passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 676,480 people, which is a decrease of 60 percent year on year. At the same time, passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 636,961 people, a decrease of 55 percent), on international – 39,519 people (drop of 86 percent).

According to the ministry, the number of flights performed during the first two months of 2021 was 5,479, which is 54 percent less compared to the same period of 2020. At the same time, the number of flights performed on domestic lines was 5,006 (a decrease of 48 percent), on international lines - 473 (a drop of 78 percent).

From January through February 2021, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to 10.6 million people, and the cargo turnover - 373,201 tons.
