The volume of transshipment of goods from Ukraine via Turkish ports made up 2.3 million tons in the first 2 months of 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo shipment from Ukraine via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 218,474 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – slightly over 2 million tons.
From January through February 2021, 103,750 tons of cargo by ships flying Ukrainian flag had been handled through the Turkish ports, the ministry noted.
Meanwhile the volume of transshipment of goods in transit from Ukraine through the ports of Turkey amounted to 542,931 tons.
The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021.
According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.
From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.
Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.
Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the reporting month, added the ministry.
