2M2021 data on cargo shipment via Turkish ports from Greece published

The volume of transshipment of goods from Greece via Turkish ports exceeded 2.35 million tons in the first two months of this year, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Apr.12.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo shipment from Greece via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 149,941 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – over 2.15 million tons.

At the same time, 52,373 tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Greek flag through the mentioned ports.

During the reporting period, 175,310 tons of cargo from Greece were transited via the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports from January through February 2021 exceeded 58.3 million tons.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.78 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the reporting month, added the ministry.
