2M2021 volume of stone coal shipment via Turkish ports disclosed

The volume of stone coal shipment via Turkish ports made up over 3.7 million tons in the first 2 months of 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Apr.15.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 282,735 tons of stone coal were handled via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 3.4 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

At the same time, no stone coal was transited through the mentioned ports.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo had been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the reporting month, added the ministry.
