Ministry discloses volume of cargo from Israel handled by Turkish ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12

The Turkish ports handled 3.9 million tons of cargo from Israel from January through March 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on May 12.

During the reporting period, 397,334 tons of cargo from Israel were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag, 3.4 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

The ships flying the Israeli flag transported 78,307 tons of cargo from January through March 2021.

The Turkish ports transited 284,818 tons of cargo from Israel from January through March 2021.

The Turkish ports handled 94.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2021.

Some 7.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag while 87.2 million tons under the flags of other countries.

Moreover, some 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

The Turkish ports as a whole handled 32.1 million tons of cargo in March 2021.

Some 2.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships sailing under the Turkish flag while 29.3 million tons by ships sailing under the flags of other countries in March.

According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in March.
